Smash book art, beading and something old..I think I know what it is

I found this folded item in my grandfather's barn last year. I believe it maybe a folding, portable, mirrored shaving stand of some sort. If anyone knows for sure..please let me know. I don't know why I dragged this piece home other than I thought it was weird.

open with removable, shallow, milk glass insert. It looks like the clip type thing behind the glass may have held a shaving brush and the bowl a shaving cake of soap.

It started snowing around 1 a.m. this morning and has snowed all day long. The worse of this storm is suppose to happen tonight through the early morning hours. I got up early this morning and made a large pot of turkey vegetable soup. I ventured out to bring soup to my elderly aunt and my parents. The roads were covered in snow and were very slippery. I was glad to get back home.

This afternoon I did manage to make 1 pair of earrings, but with the poor lighting my photos aren't very good. I will try and take a better photo in the morning if the lighting is better. It was such a dark, dreary, day. The photos below are the same pair of earrings..just different lighting and much enlarged. The crystals are a 2 toned, faceted, purplish/blue on sterling wires. The actual size of the stones are about the size of a dime.

I also worked on a 2 page spread in my Smash book. January 2014. This year has started early with a  snowstorm on the 2nd day of the month. I hope that isn't how the winter is going to be...one storm after another. I thought someone told me the farmer's almanac predicted a cold, but not much snow. Only time will tell. Is it spring yet? On a positive note...the days are getting longer again.

Both ear ring photos look lovely to me! I have never seen your old thing, but it does look interesting. Good to have it!

I'm often amazed at the difference lighting makes in photographing art pieces. Your earring are lovely.
